Real Worl Report

In Dallas Schools, Fear of Possible Ebola Exposure

Thousands of parents and school children in the Dallas area are very concerned after learning that five school-age children had contact with a man that is sick with Ebola. The school is just around the corner from the apartment where the Ebola patient was staying. The children that had contact with the Ebola patient are being kept at home. None of the children have developed symptoms and health officials said the chances that they pass the virus on are very low. Still some parents kept their children at home. Ebola dominated the conservations in the classrooms. Some parents had concerns about sending their children to school. Some felt the schools were not doing enough to ease fears.

My opinion is Ebola is a very dangerous disease. Keeping your child at home may be pretty good way to avoid Ebola when other children in school have been exposed to the disease. There are a lot of ways to avoid Ebola like wash your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and avoid contact with blood and body fluids and do not handle items that may have come in contact with an infected person's blood or body fluids (such as clothes, bedding, needles, and medical equipment).

We should care about it because it is a very deadly and contagious disease. It has already killed thousands of people. So far there is no known cure for Ebola even though some people have responded to a new vaccine. Health authorities keep assuring us that it is not easily spread and we should not be worried about it, yet it continues to spread.
